"Winter Comes" is a love letter to my big beautiful family, to my mom Audrey, to my daughter Audrey, to all of us in the world longing to be with those we can't be with, and to that feeling when the harsh Vermont winters are bearing down. It is a call to loving "arms".

I dedicate this song to my daughter and my mother, my husband, my family, my friend and collaborator Jer and to you and your loved ones wherever you are.

I originally wrote "Winter Comes" as an a cappella round years ago but this song came alive in December 2019 after I sang it for my collaborator and dear friend Jer Coons. He sat down at the piano and wrote these beautiful piano parts and then added drums, organ and synth parts. Years ago I recorded the Loons out on the pond in my backyard singing their haunting lonely calls out to each other. I wanted to use them in this song and with Jer's recording wizard skills we turned these sounds along with some frozen grass crunching and blue jay calls into the percussion track you will hear opening the song. For me the Loons sound like the approach of Winter and I am so happy to have their voices on this track.
Covid hit the world in March 2020 and out of necessity I learned how to do a little bit of recording at home. I recorded my husband Indigo playing cello and sent those tracks over to Jer. We also have my daughter Audrey raising her beautiful voice in the Round, so it's really a family affair and we hope it brings you some love and comfort....

Note: Loons live to be 30 years old and they mate for life. Each year when they return to our pond to mate and raise their young, I call to them and they come to my dock. They know me after all these years. We have a relationship and I love them.
